There will soon be a park in Greater Sudbury that is 23 times larger than Bell Park. Lifelong Sudbury resident Lily Fielding has donated 300 acres of land to create Kivi Park. It will be located in the south end on the site of the former Long Lake Public School.
The park will provide citizens with public access to crown land leading to three pristine lakes, trails to enjoy all year long and it will also increase the number of sports fields in our community.
In a release, Mrs. Fielding says “I grew up and went to school here, married my husband Cliff at the Voima Hall and together we raised our children in the community. I wanted to do something special in my 100th year, to give back to the community that has given so much to me.”
Everyone is invited to celebrate this new project at a Summer Family Fun Day at Kivi Park on Tuesday August 16th, 2016 from 5 p.m. – 7:30. p.m. In the event of rain, the festivities will be pushed to August 17th.
Join Kivi Park on social media and stay up to date with what’s new and exciting at the park as the construction and development takes shape.
